Alpha Kappa Alpha (AKA) Leadership Practice Exam

Alpha Kappa Alpha is a national sorority, established in 1908 as the first intercollegiate sorority for African American women. This classification as a national sorority signifies that it operates on a national level, encompassing chapters across multiple states and colleges, rather than being confined to a single local area. The structure allows it to promote initiatives that address societal issues and advance the interests of its members on a broader scale.

Being a national sorority also implies a commitment to the values of sisterhood, scholarship, and service, which are central to its mission. This is different from the definitions of local sororities or fraternities, which are typically limited to a specific geographic area or educational institution. Additionally, while community service is a significant part of Alpha Kappa Alpha's activities, its designation as a national sorority captures its broader organizational structure and purpose.
